This Manual, to propose suggestions to a Code of Conduct to companies, was written by Cláudio Weber Abramo and we received contributions from Paulo Itacarambi,  Irani Cavagnoli and Sérgio Esteves. I coordinated this leaflet until to be published,  I also wrote and gave my personal contribution about Privacy.

Publications:

A book entitled " Abrindo a empresa para o consumidor - a importância de um canal de atendimento" - Qualitymark Editora, 1991, 1997. It serves as bibliographical reference by students of some of Brazil´s leading universities.

Some papers presented in Seminars and Congress, about Consumer Rights, Food Package, Consumer Privacy, Customer´s Affairs and Call Centers and so on.

1985 - Private Sector:

In April 1985, I was invited to work inside Rhodia/ Rhone Poulenc and to take a job as a critical internal consumer, as a kind of "Consumer Ombudsman" , where I stayed until January of 1991.

The experience and activities were related at the Rhone Poulenc World Communication Committee, which met in Madrid - Spain, January 1989 - " Consumer Valorization Policy - a Brazilian Experience".

In December 1989, I was one of the founders and elected the first President of Secanp - National Association of Consumer´s Affairs Professionals in Companies, similar to SOCAP.
Founders: Avon, O Boticário, Colgate Palmolive, Consul, Coca Cola, Danone, Kodak, Kibon, General Motors, Heublein, Johnson &  Johnson, Lacta, Nestlé,  Nutrimental, Philips, Rhodia, Refinações Milho Brasil, Sadia and Sharp.

Sponsored by Rhodia, we had some meetings with very important professionals/
authorities in the field of Consumer Protection like Mrs. Esther Peterson, 20 October of 1988. She also spoke to the small group of private companies ´professionals - the same that would be founders of Secanp, in the next year - we were eager to seek information and ways to
create in Brazil
a "win-win" sector, strong and trustful, to industries and consumers.

Public Sector - Government of S.Paulo state:

In 1976 I began my professional career at Procon-SP - Consumer Protection Service of the State of S.Paulo. During 9 years I had the position of Coordinator of the Food Division, and during 2 years I was Coordinator of Technical Surveys and Vice-Director (83-85).

Many articles were written and 2 small leaflets to instruct consumers on food consumption - milk products and meat products (bellow). Both had a huge and positive exposition and were printed in newspapers, magazines, special publications.

Because my articles and interviews about food´s labels, as a way to get information concerned what we eat and buy, Journal Folhinha de S.Paulo, 1982, printed this special article (bellow) with history of a girl and her friends that go to Procon-SP to ask how to prevent themselves.
They found at Procon, a Food Engineer  - Maria Lucia. The history is informative and sweet.

Since 1976, during these 34 years, Brazil has established and promoted a lot of improvements in consumer´s protection.
